Interested in a STEM coding project without coding experience? Interested in an integrated STEM project where students can learn and use concepts in computer science, environmental science and engineering? Looking for an opportunity to interact with industry through STEM project? Have a TI calculator you want to put it to an optimal use? Want to hear STEM professionals on their experience, hot topics, and their collaboration with local schools?
DFW 2019 Student Engineering & Creativity Competition (SECC) is your opportunity to bring industry attention to your idea, your work, compete for cash prizes, and gain STEM experience and valuable input from industry experts. This is a STEM event that supports the National DiscoverE Engineers Week. This event consists of two parallel programs: SECC Competition and STEM Seminar.
SECC Competition is designed for grades 6 to 12 to inspire students’ interest in STEM through hands-on & creativity projects, recognition, real world challenges, and interaction with industry.
STEM Seminar “Unleashing Creativity through STEM Projects” is designed for parents and students of all grades. STEM professionals will share their experience, hot topics, or collaboration with local schools. Speakers include Mr. William Yang from PepsiCo R&D, Dr. Jey Veerasamy, Director of Center for Computer Science Education & Outreach at UTD, and Mr. Rod Wetterskog, Assistant Dean of UTD Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. Free admission but registration is required.
The event also has raffle drawing. A free raffle ticket will be offered to each registered attendee or volunteer. Raffle prizes include: TI-Innovator™ Hub (~$65), TI-Innovator™ Rover (robot)(~$140), TI-Nspire™ CX CAS Handheld Calculator (~$150). These three hardware will be used in next SECC competition.
