The Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program (LAMP) event is one of the long-standing CIE/USA-DFW events featuring “Leadership” and “Career Mentoring” for young professionals. This event is especially designed for graduating university students and young professionals who desire to enhance their knowledge and hand-on experience on hiring process, career development, corporate culture, and leadership.

This year’s LAMP is planned for 4/9/16, Saturday, from 2pm – 5:30pm at UT Dallas SLC 1.102, and we expect a great audience of 100+ students. LAMP is open to 8 universities in the DFW area for international students to apply, and our planning team will qualify and interview 6 finalists. On the day of our LAMP seminar, these 6 finalists will interact with the judges through a mock interview (individual) and a team building exercise where the finalists will be split into 2 teams of three.

The role of the 6 judges is to run a 1 on 1 interview with these 6 finalists. Each judge will have 5 minutes to interview 1 finalist (the judge will be matched to a finalist in advance). Afterwards, the judge will score their performance, and provide verbal feedback to the finalists. The feedback will help both the finalists and the other audience members learn how to improve in a low-key, low-consequence interactive session.

Additionally, in the team building session, the 2 teams are pitching their next generation smartphone to a “group of investors” (the judges). Similarly to the interview, the role here is to score their performance, and provide verbal feedback on their teamwork capabilities.

We have established a nice scoring approach and will add up all the scores to determine the winners by 4:45pm and announce and award them at the end of the LAMP program.

Lastly, the 6 Judges come together in a 30 minute Panel Discussion to share their insights on interviewing and address any other questions from the audience.
