2014 CIE/USA-DFW Leadership Assessment and Mentoring Program (LAMP)

October 11, 2014 - 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm

 

The goal of the Leadership and Career Development Seminar is to encourage the graduate students and young professionals to foster leadership skill development and initiate the planning of their career for their long term career path development. The event will feature 3 speakers from broad background discussing leadership and career development from different perspectives. Important skills will also be recommended.

The event will be on October 11 (Saturday) 1:30 – 4:00 pm at UT Dallas, Texas Instruments Auditorium Room 2.102 at ECSS (Campus Map). The physical address of the campus is 800 W. Campbell Rd. Richardson TX 75080. You are encouraged to park at Lot I or Lot H. The event is free and open to public, but registration is required.

The event is cohosted by CIE/USA-DFW and UT Dallas Taiwanese Student Association (TSA).

Speaker Profiles

Dr. Faa-Ching Wang, Retired Business Unit General Manager, Texas Instruments

For the past 31 years, Dr. Faa-Ching Wang has made exemplary contributions to the engineering profession and semiconductor industry. Subsequent to the recent retirement this year from Texas Instruments, Dr. Wang joined the Board of Directors of a private company responsible for the company’s restructuring activities and direction setting.
While in Texas Instruments (TI), as General Manager of worldwide printer head business unit, Dr. Wang was responsible for the general worldwide management of the company’s printer head integrated circuit business group. His responsibilities cover the full scope of business activities from marketing, customer relationships and new technology/product development to factory manufacturing operation and supply chain management of six factories located around the world. Prior to the business assignment, Dr. Wang worked in operation which he contributed to 4 advanced wafer fab start-ups and served as wafer fab manager of two TI advanced wafer fabs. Prior to TI, Dr. Wang was the Director of Crystal Engineering/QA of Ethyl Corporation. Prior to this, Dr. Wang was a Member of the Technical Staff of the Hewlett-Packard Company.

Faa-Ching earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University. He received a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from National Central University in Taiwan. Dr. Wang holds four U.S. patents and five invention disclosures, and is the author of 39 articles published in a variety of technical publications. He is the recipient of the 2009 Asian American Engineering of the Year Award, National Engineering Week Foundation and Chinese Institute of Engineering/USA, and the recipient of the 1999 National Asian American Corporate Achievement Award, Organization of Chinese Association. Dr. Wang is also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Community Service from City of Richardson, Texas in 2014.

David Hill, Professional Speaker, Dave Hill Speaks LLC

Dave Hill is a mechanical engineer, a professional speaker, author, seminar leader, and speech coach. He is known for his Irish wit and his passion for helping people improve their presentation skills and communication strategies.

Dave was born and raised in Ireland. He became Chief Engineer Officer on cargo ships, and his travels took him to 75 countries. By age 30, Dave had been around the world seven times. He has also worked as an Industrial Insurance Energy Risk Engineer, and as a Corporate Principal Risk Engineer for a chemical corporation in Texas, USA.

Dave was a Finalist in the 2004 World Championship of Public Speaking and is the recipient of many other public speaking awards. Dave uses humor, his keen sense of observation, his business acumen and his worlds of experience to present powerful success-building tips and examples. Dave writes articles on workplace communication, leadership, and presentation skills and he is author of two books on communication strategies and presentation skills.

Onanong Kamolvat, Global Trade Services Manager, Maxim Integrated

Onanong Kamolvat is currently Global Trade Services Manager at Maxim Integrated, a public traded company that designs, manufactures, and sells analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. She now led multinational teams in multi-million SAP GTS integration project. She is also responsible for hardware, software, Technology & Encryption Classification; Technology Transfer Compliance Program, and Department of Commerce Technology Control Plans. Her experiences and expertise include international trade compliance, US Free Trade Agreement, distribution, logistics, and C-TPAT. She holds MBA in Global Business from University of Dallas, Bachelor of Accounting Degree from Kasetsart University, Import Certificate from Institute for Supply Management, and Encryption Certificate from Export Compliance Training Institute. She also recently received the CFO award for Global Execution System Project from Maxim Integrated.
